Welcome to RE:SOUND, the 8th International Conference on the Histories of Media Arts 2019 - Aalborg, Denmark. RE:SOUND is part of the Media Arts Histories conference series, bringing together leading researchers, artists, and scientists on a series of interdisciplinary topics for over 14 years.

The RE:SOUND conference will take a specific interest on the theories, practices, histories, etc., of art and technology which are focusing on, concerned with, reflecting on, including, mobilising and/or working with sound as a main component or an integral part. RE:SOUND will host four days with 10 tracks of paper sessions, panels, workshops, practice-based interventions, exhibitions, performances, poster sessions, a PhD workshop and keynotes.

Arkadiusz Półtorak (Poland, 1992) - curator and writer based in Kraków; PhD candidate at the Department of Literary Anthropology and Cultural Studies at the Jagiellonian University and graduate of De Appel Curatorial Programme (2018); assistant researcher at the Department of Art Sciences at the Pedagogical University in Kraków; recipient of an individual grant for arts and media theory research funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Poland (Diamentowy Grant, 2015-19); co-founder of the Kraków-based art space "Elementarz dla mieszkańców miast" (with Leona Jacewska and Martyna Nowicka). As freelance curator he has collaborated with artists such as Jasmina Metwaly and Philip Rizk, Norman Leto, Mateusz Kula or Verena Blok. He writes regularly on subjects related to contemporary arts for Magazyn SZUM and has contributed to a few art-related monographs including Kinship in Solitude – Perspectives on Notions of Solidarity, eds. Anna Jehle and Paul Buckermann, Hamburg (adocs) 2017.
