Jessica Broscheit
Hamburg University of Applied Sciences Germany
Jessica Broscheit works at the intersection of art, technology and science. Driven by the passion for interdisciplinary thinking, she is interested in creating sensory experiences by exploring both the aesthetics of technology and the perception of environmental data. For that, she developed an intuition for interaction in terms of performativity, acoustics, and visualization. Her clear sense for artistic as much as functional design makes for a rhetoric that fabricates artefacts linking both the material and the cognitive dimension. Combining this with her endeavour to filter the essence, reduce complexity and the attempt to align contemporary with tradition, Jessica Broscheit conceives of and creates visual, dynamic and haptic representations. Her research interests include ubiquitous computing, physical computing, tangible interfaces, data interpretation and sonification. In addition, Jessica Broscheit also develops workshops by utilizing tangible interfaces and fiction-driven approaches. Broscheit has presented her research at the Tempe Center for the Arts (ACM TEI, Tempe, Arizona), the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (ACM IDC, Trondheim, Norway), and the Aalborg University (EVA, Politics of the Machines, Art and After, Copenhagen, Denmark). Currently, she is working as PhD student in the CSTI-lab at the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences.
