Welcome to RE:SOUND, the 8th International Conference on the Histories of Media Arts 2019 - Aalborg, Denmark. RE:SOUND is part of the Media Arts Histories conference series, bringing together leading researchers, artists, and scientists on a series of interdisciplinary topics for over 14 years.

The RE:SOUND conference will take a specific interest on the theories, practices, histories, etc., of art and technology which are focusing on, concerned with, reflecting on, including, mobilising and/or working with sound as a main component or an integral part. RE:SOUND will host four days with 10 tracks of paper sessions, panels, workshops, practice-based interventions, exhibitions, performances, poster sessions, a PhD workshop and keynotes.

Josef Sprinzak is a vocal and interdisciplinary performance artist, and a teacher and researcher in the field of voice and sound. His work, which he terms “Text Sound Art”, investigates language and the relationship between meaning and sound. The themes he deals with include memory and consciousness, the poetics of image-voice relationship, Modernist Literature, mental and physical sound mapping. Studied Computer Science, Visual Theatre, Roy Hart vocal work and holds a Phd. degree in the Humanities. Performs in Israel and Internationally in contexts of Performance Art, Music, Visual Art, Poetry and Theatre. Teaches speech for stage in the theatre department in the Hebrew University, and is the Head of “Jewish Cultures Mapped”, a web map application of the History of Jewish Culture in the modern era.
