Linnea Semmerling

Linnea Semmerling is a PhD candidate at Maastricht University, where she is currently finalizing her dissertation Listening on Display: Exhibiting Sounding Artworks 1960s-now, funded by the PhDs in the Humanities program of the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). Her project explores how sounding artworks have challenged the exhibition conventions at museums and other contemporary art venues in Germany and the US since the 1960s. Semmerling holds an MA in Art Studies from the University of Amsterdam and was Assistant Curator at ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, where she organized exhibitions and edited publications on sound and media art.
