Welcome to RE:SOUND, the 8th International Conference on the Histories of Media Arts 2019 - Aalborg, Denmark. RE:SOUND is part of the Media Arts Histories conference series, bringing together leading researchers, artists, and scientists on a series of interdisciplinary topics for over 14 years.

The RE:SOUND conference will take a specific interest on the theories, practices, histories, etc., of art and technology which are focusing on, concerned with, reflecting on, including, mobilising and/or working with sound as a main component or an integral part. RE:SOUND will host four days with 10 tracks of paper sessions, panels, workshops, practice-based interventions, exhibitions, performances, poster sessions, a PhD workshop and keynotes.

Michelle Lewis-King PhD, is an artist, acupuncturist and Associate Professor at Roy Ascott Studios, DeTao Masters Academy, Shanghai Institute of Visual Art. Her work researches interconnections between art, humanities, medicine, technology and globalised society from a different vantage by using Chinese pulse diagnosis and clinical practice to create soundscapes, public performances, exhibitions and research publications. She collaborates with 4DSOUND Institute for Spatial Sound (Budapest, HU) on spatially dynamic soundscapes that reflect the infrasonic processes of the human body according to Chinese medical philosophy. A selected list of exhibitions include: Chinese medicine, art and cosmotechnics  Central Academy of Fine Art Beijing 2019, Energyscapes Consciousness Reframed 2019, A Question of Oscillation Digital Suzhou 2018, Reflections from the Inner Mirror (4DSOUND, Budapest, 2017), Touch as Techne (ISEA 2016), Circadian (TodaysArt NL 2015), Pulse Project at PROJECT ANYWHERE 2015-2016 (one of six projects selected from an international competition), Drawing Towards Sound (University of Greenwich, London - with Cage, Cardew, Boulez, etc. 2014), Chinese Film Festival (Anatomy Museum, King’s College London, 2014), Re-New 2013 (Denmark, Copenhagen), Disjointed: Digital Culture (Ex-Teresa Museum, Mexico, 2013), Digital Futures (V&A Museum, London, 2013), Flux-Off at Artists’ Games (Spike Island, Bristol, 2012), Experimental Notations (Royal Nonesuch Gallery, Oakland, CA., USA, 2011).
